About UCLAN
UCLAN is home to students and staff from many different social and ethnic backgrounds across the UK, and from almost every country in the world.
The friendly and welcoming atmosphere at the university and in the city of Preston creates an amazing learning environment, encourages new contacts and friendships and attracts over 100 different nationalities onto the inner city campus.
Most of the university buildings are within a ten minute walk of each other with fantastic new facilities and cutting edge study environments in technology, arts and humanities. Further campus developments continue to go from strength to strength.
To help you find your way around there’s a student information centre called The ‘i’ situated in the centre of the campus and is the first port of call for help and advice on most subjects – from accommodation and careers to council tax.
If you want to take a break from your studies, there are lots of ways to enjoy yourself. The Students’ Union is at the heart of student life on campus and our new £6.5 million building boasts some of the best facilities in the country, including retail and catering outlets, a print shop and our very own radio station and university magazine.

It is a large and thriving city with good transport links by road, rail and air, making Preston an ideal location for national and international travel.As England's newest city, plans have been agreed for a new multi-million redevelopment of Preston City Centre to include major retail, leisure and cultural facilities which will enhance the existing excellent shopping centres, magnificent churches and scenic gardens.
If you are a lover of sport then Preston is an ideal place to be. As well as all the facilities provided by the University and the city for playing sport, there is also a great deal to watch in the region, including football at Preston North End FC.
For a fun and interesting day out, there are a host of museums and galleries for you to choose from in the City, including the UK's National Football Museum and the magnificent Harris Museum and Art Gallery. You can also watch the latest movies or go bowling at one of Preston's entertainment parks.
And getting about is easy – the bus and train stations are a short walk from the campus, which has a compact, friendly feel.
