I was chatting with a friend on my way to work today and we talked about a lot of things one of which was what brought about the topic. He gave me this chinese adage that says"a young man walked into a restaurant to eat and an inscription at the entrance reads,go in and eat for your fathers have paid for it.He went in and ate, and on his way back he saw another inscription at the exit which read, go back and pay for the sake of your children" all i could deduce from it was the legacies we leave or that which was left for us.
When we leave this world, what do we leave behind? What are we remebered by? Do we leave a trail of tears, pain and suffering or; do we leave leave joy, peace, comfort e.t.c? What do we Leave behind?
Our legacy is what people remember about us after we’re gone. It’s what we leave behind. Part of the midlife struggle is defining to ourselves how we want to be remembered. We wonder if we have made a positive and lasting impact. Will anything I’ve done here last beyond my departure?
You don't have to be Bill gates, Mike Adenuga, Donald Trump, Leo Stan Ekeh, Oprah Winfery, Sadaam Hussein or Bin Laden to leave a legacy. All you have to do are the following and much more;
-Do something meaningful such as; contributing to the growth and stability of your immediate community through cash or manual labour, be friendly with the youths, baby sit for those who need it, start an NGO or a Charity. It does not have to be something spectacularn just something special.
-Instigate change; you can be an example to a lot of people by how you act. It could be through your actions, body language or educational qualifications. Organise extracurricular activities for kids, join the choir, join the Basket ball team and be disciplined. Teach people the meaning of team work and support.
-Be courteous; be polite, respectful, decent, apologise when wrong, avoid confrontations

It's not enough
How much is a life worth I ask myself?
How much does it cost to be delivered of a baby?
How much does it cost to raise a baby?
How much does a nursery and primary Education cost?
How much does a secondary Education cost?
How much does it cost to get into the higher institution?
How much does a university Education cost?
How much does it cost to get good accomodation in a school environment?
How much does it cost to feed a child from infancy to adulthood?
How much does it cost to transport a child form infancy to adulthood?
How much does it cost to clothe a child from infancy to adulthood?
How much does it cost to...?
If calculated, five million naira does not cover it. A hundred million naira won't cover it...
Why trivialize the meaningless death of corp members? Why term the so called "compensation" as "goodies"? Automatic employment for a member of the deceased family is nothing short of what every graduate in the country deserves. It is nothing special.
The president should thread carefully when he does certain things. The instigators of the dastardly act shoulb be brought to book and maybe, maybe, the families can have a bit of closure. Let them know that justice still exists. Let them know that their loved ones death brought about a change in our political dealings.
Am angry that corp members are treated as glorified slaves and expendables.
Why obey the Clarion call when we are not safe?
Why stand under the sun or in the rain when it is not safe?
What dedication and selflessness when, we have undedicated people and selfish people barring our road to life and success?
It's not enough Mr. President. Not enough.
More than 10 corp members might be dead and also, a lot more were affected and might be traumatized for the rest of their lives.
Someone has to pay for all that has happened. That is the only way to bring about a semblance of closure to the; families of the dead corp members, the injured corp members, the other affected corp members, their families, friends and the nation in general.
Let us show that justice can be served in Nigeria, Let the Northerners know that they can't get away with violence and murder all the time.
Let the up-coming generation know that the government has got their back.
If you ask me, I would say, the NYSC scheme should be scrapped,a thorough investigation should be carried out, all culprits must be brought to book, the actions of Northerners must be checked and please and please, stop calling whatever compensation that is being given GOODIES because it isn't
Once again, It's not enough...

Dreams
Do you dream?
What are your dreams?
How often do you think about them?
Do you work towards them coming to reality?
Has any of your dreams come to reality?
How long did it take?
Does any of your dreams include;
-owning your own house?
-owning your own car?
-being your own boss?
-buying a Chris Aire watch?
-going on a cruise?
-getting a good job?
-graduating with good grades?
-going to the best schools?
-studying outside the shores of Nigeria?
If any does, you need to; draw up a plan for yourself and work towards that plan. You cannot have a dream then sit or lie back on a bed waiting for it to true. You have to do the work.
Don't be lazy,...Move it!!!

It's Back
I groaned as i woke up this morning to the sound of rain. I just felt like crawling back into bed and not waking up till late in the afternoon.
you ask, why sleep that late? I have lot of reasons, some good and some just crazy. If i leave early for work in the rain, umbrella or not, i get to have my shoes soaked, in dirty and smelly water because of the non availability of a good drainage system. i get to have my hair style ruined, my body soaked and i get to ride the bus with damp and smelly bodies of people.
The rainy season is back again this year with all its wahala. Rubbers slippers, sandals and boots are not just going to be in vogue, they will also be so expensive. the same applies to umbrellas and shower caps. How about the transport fare? Now, that is nothing to write home about. It is during this season that Lagosians willl know that you cannot budget your transport fare.
there are a lot of other reasons for me wanting to crawl back into bed but i guess you can fill in the blank spaces yourself.
As my parting shot to you, it's the season for lateness, for ditching work, for babies, rubber sandals and slippers, power outage, in some areas; it's the season for canoes...
Always Be Prepared.

Are Men cowards?
If asked, I would say; Most men are cowards. They walk around all day repeating theses words consciously or subconsciously: "am the man" but in reality, they aren't.
Some abuse women verbally to assert their authority or boost their self confidence, others abuse the women physically for the same reason.
some men treat women as second class citizens with the aim of "putting the women in their place". For God sake, what place? I ask myself. Women are not accorded the respect they fought to have, women are deprived of their rights all in the namme of soothing a mans ego.
I say this, Men are cowards. they cover up their shortcomings and insecurities with violence, verbal and emotional abuse. They fail to realise that women are human beings and not robots. people and not slaves.
Some men, say women are evil and a necessary menace others, say; they make very good friends,a handful of men would say, that women are destroyers while some would say that, aside form God, women are the true source of comfort, love and life (Mother).
What will it take for some men not to see women as second class citizens?
what will it take for some men to give women the respect that they deserve?
what will it take for men and women to live together without there being violence or emotional battery.
What will it take for men to admit their insecurities and let their women help them to work through them?
what will it take for men to see women as being on an equal footing with them. Snap out of cowardice guys, embrace bravery and trust. it will go a long way in making you happy and our society a better place.
Ladies, ask yourself, do i need a man or a Man?

Creativity
Who says I am not creative?
Who says I can't make something out of nothing?
Who says I cannot carve out my own niche and be a force to be reckoned with?
Who says I cannot be the best I can be?
Who says it’s impossible to achieve my dream?
Terry G the mad man is making millions of naira with his ability to make unintelligible noise. Everyone loves Dbanj but, for Christ sake, he cannot sing and yet we hail him. He has a reality TV show, a club, and His own phone e.t.c. The same applies to Durella.
On the runway, we see clothes that we know, we won't be caught dead wearing and yet we commend the designers for being creative.
The greatest hackers that are being employed by covert agencies did not see the four walls of a school but, their creativity in manipulating codes got them employed.
Who would have thought that a Black man would rule the greatest country in the world? Barrack Obama and his Campaign crew were creative when they decided to preach change.
The colour black is no longer seen as just a colour for mourning but it is now seen, as a colour that depicts style; it can be worn as a short gown with gold beads and earrings, as a short gown with red trimmings, as a long trouser with silver trimmings and a cream silk top. Creativity = Style.
Remember;” To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong."- Joseph Chilton Pierce and "Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun."- Mary Lou Cook.
For me, creativity is you not being scared of biting the bullet by thinking differently.
